This past Friday a funeral was held in Palestine for Mohammed Abu Khdeir who was murdered at sixteen. During his funeral, thousands of Palestinians came together to mourn his death, celebrate him as a martyr, and protest against Israeli. Mohammed Abu Khdeir is now Palestine’s national symbol for Palestinians who yearn to blame Israeli extremists for death. Mohammed was a student electrician who participated in Palestinian folk dancing as a hobby. Before he was murdered, he was kidnapped by three men on Wednesday before he had a chance to say his morning prayers at his local mosque. Mohammed Abu Khdeir was found burned beyond recognition in a forest very close to West Jerusalem. Many believe he was killed out of revenge for the three Israelis killed. During his funeral, many Palestinian men and women were chanting, “Enough is enough, we will pay with our blood”. There were even rifle shots fired over the child’s grave. Many young Palestinians threw stones and even started igniting burning barricades at Israeli police. In return, the Israeli police threw tear gas. The local tram system that links East and West jerusalem was wrecked by rioters and had graffiti that said “Death to Jews”. Mohammed Abu Khdeir family understood the protestors but voiced their opinion about the violence and how it was very unnecessary. Moustafa Barghouti stated how there are no parallels between the three Israelis death and Mohammed Abu Khdeir’s death. Also, he stated how there is proof that Israelis killed Mohammed, but Israel has not presented Palestine with proof that they are responsible for the Israelis’ deaths.

I edited my article to talk about how Israel just announced how they are going to fight back. On Wednesday morning, Binyamin Netanyahu told the Israeli military to assault the Gaza Strip and that Hamas will pay for harming Israeli citizens. Israeli jets and naval gunfire took fire at specific targets at the Hamas on the Gaza Strip during the night. By Wednesday morning, thirtytwo Palestinians died. These deaths included a handful of senior Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants. Even though there has not been many deaths, a lot of Palestinians have been inured. Palestinian medics reported at least two women and four children dead in just the airstrikes at the north and east of the city near the Israeli border. Mahmoud Abbas (Palestinian president) phoned Abdel Fatah al-Sisi (Egypt’s president) and asked him to defend the Palestine. Egypt’s president commented how he is concerned for Palestinians safety and how he, “wishes to stop this dangerous attack”. However, the White House has announced how they agree that Israel should defend themselves against Palestine’s rocket fire attacks. Israel is not going to back down if Hamas continue to use violence against Israel. Israel will now strike back and has, “announced a state of emergency in the south of the country”.
